Government pins high hopes on young intellectuals
The first Vietnamese Young Intellectual Forum - VYI Forum 2018 - is taking place in Da Nang City. Attending are 200 young Vietnamese intellectuals from 21 countries who work in 52 career areas. Addressing the forum, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh said the Vietnamese government always encourages the contributions made by Vietnamese people from all walks of life to boost national growth, especially those made by young intellectuals.
"Young Vietnamese intellectuals have tried their best in work and study of regional and global standards. It is commendable that many of them have returned home and contributed to Vietnam’s development after studying and working abroad. We welcome any suggestion and initiative from you to help realize Vietnam’s development goals," said Deputy Prime Minister Binh.
Uniting young Vietnamese intellectuals worldwide
Uniting young Vietnamese intellectuals and encouraging their engagement in national development are key goals of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. These goals have been pursued through volunteer campaigns and activities that involve young people in government decision-making as Vietnam joins the 4th Industrial Revolution.
There are approximately 400,000 well-educated overseas Vietnamese living in the US, France, Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, and Russia. Many have PhDs and and work at scientific research centers of universities, multinational companies, and international organizations. The Youth Union has been working to establish a network connecting these forces and encouraging their contributions to Vietnam’s development.
"Young Vietnamese intellectuals, no matter where they are, always want to contribute to Vietnam’s development and put it on a par with other developed countries. We call on them to join hands in seeking solutions to many R&D puzzles that Vietnam needs in the 4th Industrial Revolution," said Le Quoc Phong, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
The Youth Union hopes that more events like the Vietnamese Young Intellectual Forum 2018 will be held to create opportunities for young intellectuals living inside and outside Vietnam contribute their ideas to achieving Vietnam’s development goals.
