Work permits for foreigners granted online

Companies in Vietnam who wish to employ foreign employees can now apply for work permits online.

The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs started this procedure on October 2 via an electronic network.

Applicants can access dvc.vieclamvietnam.gov.vn to apply for a work permit.

According to a new decree issued by the ministry, concerning the approval of the demand for using foreign workers, employers must fill in a declaration form and submit a report on demand of using foreign workers at least 20 days prior to the day they expect to employ foreign workers.

The time period has been cut down to 20 days from the previous 30 days.

Twelve days after the report is received, employers can expect a reply via email.

With regard to granting permits, employers must fill in the declaration form and submit a work permit to the relevant agencies via the web portal, at least seven days prior to the date of foreign employees joining work.

A reply will be sent via email to applicants within five working days.
