Woman on international wanted list arrested upon return to Vietnam
VOV.VN - Tran Thi Chung, a Vietnamese woman on the international wanted list, has been detained shortly after she landed at Da Nang International Airport, the police said on June 19.

Chung, 36, from central Nghe An province, had been wanted for organising illegal exits of Vietnamese citizens to foreign countries. On March 4, 2024, the Quang Ninh Provincial Police’s Investigation Agency issued a decision to prosecute her under Clause 3, Article 349 of the Penal Code.
The case is linked to a broader criminal investigation into a network engaged in organising and brokering illegal departures and forging official documents in Quang Ninh and other localities. Authorities found that the ring facilitated the travel of Vietnamese nationals to the Republic of Korea under the guise of tourism, with the intent of staying and working there illegally.
Chung, identified as one of the ringleaders, fled to the RoK during the investigation, prompting Vietnamese authorities to issue a special arrest warrant and request international cooperation in March 2024.
Following Vietnam’s request, the Korean police verified Chung’s immigration status and residence. She was arrested on June 12 by Korean authorities and deported back to Vietnam.
The Quang Ninh Police have stated that several individuals involved in the case remain at large and have called on them to surrender to receive legal leniency.
