WB project helps more people in Quang Binh access health insurance

As many as 83.39% of near poor people in the central province of Quang Binh have been given funds to buy health insurance.

The money comes from a World Bank project that started in 2010 in the northern central region, including Quang Binh, at a total investment of US$5.9 million.

It aims to facilitate access to quality health care services among near-poor people in the region, thus enhancing public health.

According to the project management team, since 2013, the project has provided some US$500,000 worth of medical equipment to each of three district hospitals in the province.

It has also funded the development of infrastructure facilities and equipment in centres for preventive medicine in the districts of Tuyen Hoa, Quang Trach, Bo Trach, and Le Thuy, each worth US$400,000.

The project has also helped train medical workers and enhance the capacity of medical teachers while ensuring effective use of medical equipment.

Apart from the project’s funding, the province has allocated some VND30 billion (US$1.35 million) to develop infrastructure and equipment at local hospitals and centres for preventive medicine.
