Waterway development based on sufficiency economy philosophy
The Government has kicked off a program for waterway development, based on the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy initiated by His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha on July 16, 2018 presided over the launching of the program at Santi Maitri Building, Government House.
On this occasion, he also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) by 22 organizations for their joint cooperation in the program.
The Government has adopted His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun’s concept of volunteer spirit in implementing the "Program for Waterway Development Based on the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for the Benefit and Happiness of the People.”
It intends to encourage all sectors of society to join hands in contributing to their communities and empowering Thai society with the force of volunteer spirit. The program starts in July 2018 in both Bangkok and the provinces nationwide. It is set as part of the activities to honor His Majesty the King on the occasion of his 66th birthday anniversary, July 28, 2018.
His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has initiated the volunteer project "We Do Good Deeds with Our Hearts” to raise public awareness of working together to contribute to society, the community, and the country as a whole. The volunteer spirit will bring about happiness on the basis of sharing and unity.
Among the activities under the volunteer project is a clean-up campaign to keep public places clean and improve landscapes in various areas. The project also involves the tackling of stagnant water and the dredging of waterways that block water flows. The clean-up campaign has already directly benefited the people, since it helps improve their living environment and hygienic standards, as well as preventing floods.
His Majesty King Maja Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has followed in the footsteps of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the Royal Father. His concept of volunteer spirit will build resilience for communities and promote self-reliance, which is an element in the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy.
The program for waterway development, based on the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, also aims to ease community problems through joint cooperation among local residents.
