VOV.VN - Youth volunteers from the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and other agencies in Hanoi participated in a blood donation campaign on March 13, which aims to help resolve the shortage of blood supplies in many of the country’s hospitals.
The event was one of the activities held to celebrate 88 years since the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union was first established, in March 26, 1931. |
The occasion marks the second time that the youth union of VOV has jointly co-ordinated with Hanoi-based Viet Duc Hospital to carry out the campaign. |
Young volunteers began to register to donate blood from the early hours of the morning. |
Before the hospital could accept their donation, their health was checked. |
A VOV member of staff says that he feels happy that his blood will go onto help save patients. |
Donating blood is a noble gesture which shows both compassion and tolerance, whilst the activity itself is a way of showing a young person’s responsibility to the community. |
Many young volunteers say that they will register again on the next blood donation event. |
Hundreds of units of blood were collected during the event. |
