VOV wins Best Radio Programme award at Asian Media Summit 2026
VOV.VN - Voice of Vietnam (VOV) was named Best Radio Program winner at the 21st AIBD International Media Awards during the Asian Media Summit 2026, held in the Maldives on May 12, drawing the participation of media executives and industry experts from more than 30 Asia-Pacific countries and territories.
The winning entry was the radio production “Peaceful Vietnamese Tet in Every Home: A Swift Order From Soldiers’ Hearts” by VOVWorld (VOV5).
As part of AMS 2026, the 21st Asian Media Awards honored outstanding radio and television productions. Vietnamese media organizations received recognition in both categories.
Pham Manh Hung, VOV Deputy General Director, described the award as a notable achievement after VOV competed against 26 official AIBD member broadcasters and nearly 40 affiliate members across the region.
This year’s summit was organized by the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) in coordination with Public Service Media (PSM) under the theme “Maldives 2.0: From Tradition to Tech”.
In her speech, AIBD Secretariat Director/CEO Philomena Gnanapragasam, said technology should be viewed as a tool to help the media industry develop further.
She highighted technology as a supporting tool, while journalism and media are the foundation that enables those technologies to be applied in practice, she said, adding that AI should be embraced as a tool for future development.
Gnanapragasam also stressed the continuing importance of traditional media during crises, natural disasters and tsunamis.
Workshops held alongside the summit focused on trends including AI applications in journalism, multi-platform storytelling, climate communication and social media strategies.
The AMS 2026 runs through May 14, while AMS 2027 is expected to be held in the Republic of Korea (RoK).
