VOV successfully hosts 2013 RadioAsia Conference
(VOV) -The thee-day RadioAsia conference concluded successfully in Hanoi on the afternoon of July 31, mapping an overall plan for the broadcasting industry’s future development.
International delegates focused their discussions on heated issues such as social media, digital technology, internet radio and the vital role of radio in community development and emergency situations.

They pointed out challenges facing radio broadcasters, who are striving to attract young listeners by applying advanced technology, using multimedia platforms and increasing interaction with audiences.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung described the RadioAsia Conference as a useful forum for media leaders, managers and senior media practitioners to discuss and share experiences with the aim of enhancing cooperation for mutual development in the digital era, contributing to peace, friendship, co-operation, and development in the region and around the world.
Javad Mottaghi, secretary general of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), praised VOV’s valuable contributions to the successful organisation of this event.
He also noted that to move into the new era, broadcasters have to use modern information and communication technologies and social networking to complement traditional services. They need to move on with the digital wave, so as to not to be left behind in the market place, he said.

VOV director general, Nguyen Dang Tien highly valued keynote presentations at the conference and express his strong belief that radio broadcasting continues to attract more listeners and holds a key position in society.
In his closing remarks, Professor Martin Hadlow, secretary general of the Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC), described the conference as a great success, saying that international delegates learnt a lot from each other and grasped opportunities forfuture co-operation.
He praised VOV’s rapid development which is reflected in all forms of media – audio, print, online and TV.
“We return to our homes with a piece of Vietnam deep in our hearts,” he said.
