VOV raises fund for flood victims in south-central region

VOV.VN -Voice of Vietnam (VOV) President Nguyen The Ky on November 7 called on all employees to donate at least one day's salary for victims of typhoon Damrey and floods in the south-central region of Vietnam.

Addressing the fundraising launch ceremony, Mr. Ky said the storm caused serious human and property losses to local people, especially those in Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, and Dak Lak provinces.

Therefore, each VOV staff should join hand to help the victims overcome the devastating consequences caused by the storm, promptly restore production and soon stabilise their lives.

He also praised efforts of VOV field reporters to cover news about typhoon Damrey.

The typhoon has so far left 69 dead and 30 injured. Tens of thousands of people had to be evacuated, and over 120,700 houses were collapsed.

It also damaged transport infrastructure and left many areas in power outage.
