VOV promotes cooperation with Radio Repulik Indonesia

Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) Deputy Director General Dao Duy Hua received a delegation from Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI), led by its Director of Service and Business Development, Adnan Iskandar, in Hanoi on September 29.

At the meeting the Deputy Director General welcomed the Indonesian delegation, saying that in recent years, the two national radio broadcasters have actively updated news on the visits of both countries’ high-ranking delegations.

With its four different types of media - namely radio, online newspaper, television and printed newspaper - VOV has comprehensively covered all the activities related to both countries’ relations, he said.

He confirmed that VOV and RRI have a strong traditional friendship. At the 8th Asia Media Summit held in Hanoi in May this year, leaders of VOV and RRI exchanged views on cooperation including the plan to create a Vietnamese radio programme to air on RRI.

An agreement on the issue will be signed during a visit of a VOV delegation to RRI in early 2012.

The Indonesian programme broadcasted by VOV has continually received good feedback from listeners, said Mr. Hua.

For his part, the RRI Director briefly introduced his national radio broadcaster and stressed that RRI always give high priority to foreign affairs radio programmes. RRI now broadcasts programmes in 8 different languages.

He hoped that in the coming time, VOV will support RRI in producing Vietnamese language radio programming and affirmed that the cooperation with VOV is one of RRI’s most important strategies. VOV and RRI will cooperate in exchanges of technicians and apprentices.

The two leaders also proposed to open a new programme entitled “Jakarta-Hanoi” to mark the 26th SEA Games, scheduled for Indonesia this November. The VOV News Centre will send its 4 reporters to cover the sporting events and RRI has pledged to give preferential conditions for Vietnamese and ASEAN journalists during the SEA Games.

One the same day, the RRI delegation worked with the Overseas Service Channel (VOV5) and the VOV Online Newspaper.
