VOV Hot Radio wins ABU Special Jury Prize

(VOV) - Hot Radio, a Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) programme for amateur music lovers from across the country, has been awarded the Special Jury Prize 2013 of the 50th ABU General Assembly.

Addressing the awards ceremony In Hanoi on October 28, Vijay Sadhu, Senior Executive Programme Department of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, praised Hot Radio’s crew for their creativity in designing a programme that touches the heart of listeners.

Since the programme was aired nearly a year ago, it has attracted large numbers of listeners, old and young alike, who show great passion for four genres of music: folk songs, romantic and revolutionary melodies,  pop, and children’s songs.

Many listeners have the chance to exchange views with VOV presenters, expressing their love for music and showing off their voice in different genres of music.

For its highly interactive format, Hot Radio beat six other entries of regional broadcasters to win the ABU Special Jury Prize 2013 at the ABU General Assembly in Hanoi.

This year the jury presented ABU prizes to 7 radio programmes and 8 television products sorted out from over 260 programmes of more than 20 countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

Other radio prizes were given to entries of Germany, New Zealand, Iran, China, and Malaysia.

TV prizes went to products of Singapore, Germany, the Republic of Korea, Iran, and New Zealand.

The jury also presented radio and TV commended prizes to a number of other broadcasts.
