VOV, China Radio spearhead cross-cultural exchange initiatives

VOV.VN - China and Vietnam have a strong relationship, said Vu Hai, vice president of VOV, at a reception today (July 24) in Hanoi for his counterpart Hu BangSheng of China Radio International.

The two countries economic and commercial relationships, which resulted in record trade last year, are well known. Yet the ties that bind China and Vietnam are not just economic.

In fact, cooperation and cultural exchange initiatives between VOV and CRI are leading the way to a greater understanding between the peoples of the two nations, Mr Hai underlined.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed to augment cross-cultural exchanges among radio staff, editors and translators along with adding significant cultural and social programming on their radio and television stations.

Mr Hai said he was particularly interested in broadcasting more Chinese movie and television programming after they have been translated in the Vietnamese language that would introduce the Chinese people and their culture to the Vietnamese audience.

He noted he was also especially interested in airing more programming that would showcase and promote inbound and outbound tourism amongst the people of the two neighbours that would include things such as top tourist destinations, the food scene and the scenic beauty of each of their homelands.
