VOV, ABC Radio Sydney step up digitization cooperation

VOV.VN - National radio broadcaster Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and ABC Radio Sydney of Australia have agreed to further boost links between the two radio stations in the digitalisation process.

This agreement was reached by a VOV delegation led by Do Tien Sy, president of VOV, during a recent working visit to ABC Radio Sydney.

At a meeting with representatives of the Australian media outlet, Sy congratulated them on the various achievements and major developments of both ABC Radio in general, and ABC Radio Sydney in particular, in recent times. He said that both countries upgrading their relationship to a strategic partnership in 2018 works to create a foundation for VOV and ABC Radio Sydney to further strengthen their relations in the near future.

Amid both stations facing common challenges, the emergence of new trends and the strong development of technology, the VOV leader said he believes closer co-operation will help the two stations better respond to challenges whilst sharing experience will help them to grasp opportunities for better development in the time to come.

Steve Ahern, manager of ABC Radio Sydney, displayed his elation at welcoming the visit by the VOV delegation led by Sy.

The meeting with the VOV delegation also featured the participation of Jessica Douglas, project and administration manager of ABC Radio, and David Seale, marketing and communications manager of ABC Radio.

ABC Radio representatives shared that the recent efforts of the station has contributed to increasing the number of listeners and creating closer links with the people.

ABC Radio is currently transforming strongly and focusing on digital products and views this as a top priority, they said.

ABC Radio has therefore outlined a digital strategy to gradually shift the traditional method of reaching listeners to a new one where the content is not limited by space and time, but can be instead accessed at any time, while the content is diversified when integrated from sound, as well as images to texts.

In addition, the Australian outlet also makes us uses of different social platforms and closely co-ordinates between all forms of media within the station, including radio, television, electronic newspapers, online listening, viewing on demand, and even applications in order to promote content and help listeners have a wide choice of information accessing tools.

The VOV president was hugely impressed by the efforts made by ABC Radio Sydney in the digitalisation process, adding that VOV is also accelerating its own process and hopes that the Australian side will co-ordinate in training reporters and sharing experience in this process.

ABC Radio as therefore agreed with this proposal and said it would discuss this issue in more detail moving forward.

During the working session with ABC Radio Sydney at ABC's headquarters in Sydney, the VOV delegation was led by Steve Ahern, manager of ABC Radio Sydney, to visit a number of the station's key programme production areas.
