Viettel High Tech expands defence technology partnerships at SAHA 2026
VOV.VN - Viettel High Tech, an arm of Vietnam’s military run telecom and defence industry giant Viettel, has expanded defence technology cooperation with a series of leading Turkish partners at the SAHA 2026 Defence and Aerospace Exhibition recently held in Istanbul, Türkiye.
At the region’s largest defence exhibition, Viettel High Tech showcased more than 70 high-tech defence industry products, highlighting technologies researched, developed and manufactured by Vietnamese engineers.
Held biennially since 2018, SAHA 2026 is regarded as one of the world’s major international exhibitions in the defence and aerospace sectors.
The firm introduced a product ecosystem spanning seven operational areas based on the C5ISR combat model, covering intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), command and control (C2), fire control, communications, logistics and training support.
The showcased technologies focused on emerging trends in modern warfare, including anti-drone systems using both hard-kill and soft-kill methods, medium-range reconnaissance UAVs, combat UAVs, active electronically scanned array fire-control radars and private mobile networks designed for military communications.
Over the May 5-9 exhibition, Viettel High Tech signed and expanded multiple cooperation agreements with leading Turkish defence and telecommunications companies.
The firm signed a cooperation agreement with Karel Electronics to test and integrate Viettel’s private 5G network solutions into military communication environments requiring high levels of security and stability.
It also broadened 5G cooperation with ULAK Communications, a company designated by the Turkish government as a core player in the country’s telecommunications self-reliance strategy.
The partnerships come as Türkiye officially entered its 5G deployment phase in April 2026 following spectrum auctions completed in late 2025. With its large population, advanced industrial base and strategy to strengthen digital sovereignty, Türkiye is considered one of the most strategically important 5G markets across the Eurasian region.
Within the framework of SAHA 2026, Viettel High Tech also expanded defence product cooperation with major regional contractors including STM, SDT, ASPILSAN, EPROM, TUBITAK BILGEM, TITRA and HAVELSAN.
The cooperation areas include electronic warfare, UAV and counter-UAV technologies, high-power laser systems, battlefield ISR solutions, defence electronics and energy infrastructure for advanced technology platforms.
A major focus is Viettel’s layered counter-UAV systems integrating radar reconnaissance, electro-optical technologies, electronic jamming systems, electromagnetic pulse (EMP) solutions and high-power laser technologies.
As unmanned aerial vehicles become increasingly common threats in modern conflicts, multilayer anti-drone systems combining radar, electronic warfare, EMP and directed-energy weapons are emerging as a key development trend for defence industries worldwide.
Prior to SAHA 2026, Viettel High Tech had already maintained a presence at multiple international defence exhibitions, gradually expanding its technology cooperation network and strengthening connections with defence industry ecosystems across the Middle East, Europe and Southeast Asia.
