Vietnam's Solforest Ecopark set to become tallest vertical garden in the world
VOV.VN - Situated on the outskirts of Hanoi, Solforest Ecopark will break the record set by Bosco Verticale, a pair of residential towers in the Porta Nuova district of Milan, Italy, to become the tallest vertical garden in the world once construction is finalized.

The site represents the largest ecological urban township in the north of the country and will feature a complex of high-end villas and apartment buildings built into a green space, including the 41-storey, 156-metre high Solforest Ecopark.
According to details given by Travelandleisureasia.com, the stunning natural landscape of the township is set to incorporate more than one million trees, meaning the ratio of trees to residents will be roughly 120 per capita.
“This lush forest not only makes for beautiful scenery, but also helps naturally purify the air throughout the complex. In 2015, the property earned multiple accolades from the IPA (International Property Award) for its design,” the website added.
Sharing their view on Travelandleisureasia, Dewan, a leading design firm behind some of the Middle East’s most famous structures, including Abu Dhabi’s Fairmont Hotel and Strata Tower, along with Fountain Views Hotel in Dubai, said that Ecopark Corporation has requested them to develop two towers. It is hoped that these projects will become sustainable design symbols for the country and will go on to rival some of the top green architecture around the world.
“It is the most challenging task given to us yet,” said a representative of Dewan.
According to the website, in order to rise to this challenge, Dewan has deployed researchers to conduct fieldwork by installing hundreds of specialised equipment to collect data on solar radiation, wind intensity, seasonal temperatures, and UV radiation variations in the area. These efforts are being done to ensure the buildings are tailor-made for the climate of northern Vietnam.
While the sheer abundance of trees alone would make Ecopark exceedingly green, the architects have chosen to take matters a step further by incorporating 400 vertical gardens into the facade of the two towers.
Travelandleisureasia stressed that once complete, Solforest will make it both the tallest residential building in the country and one of the highest vertical gardens on the planet.
The Sol Forest Ecopark project has also appeared on the homepage of many famous Asian newspapers such as Singapore Business and Channel News Asia.
