Vietnam’s frigate 015 docks at Kure Naval Base for Japan goodwill visit
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Navy’s missile frigate 015-Tran Hung Dao carrying the Vietnam People’s Army delegation led by Colonel Nguyen Vinh Nam, deputy commander of Naval Region 4 Command, docked at Kure Port, Hiroshima prefecture on December 7, beginning its goodwill visit to Japan.
Colonel Yanagihara, a representative of Kure Naval Base, one of the largest bases of the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force, presided over the welcoming ceremony for the Vietnamese delegation at the pier.
Colonel Yanagihara expressed his hope that the exchanges and interactions during the visit would further contribute to strengthening the friendly cooperation between the two navies, as well as the broader Vietnam–Japan relationship.
For his part, Colonel Nguyen Vinh Nam thanked the Japanese officer for the warm welcome, and noted that the visit would help sailors from both countries gain a deeper understanding of each other’s culture, people, and naval practices.
According to the Vietnam People’s Navy, this is the second goodwill visit to Japan by missile frigate 015 – Tran Hung Dao, and its first visit to the Kure Naval Base. It aims to concretise the Joint Vision Statement on Vietnam–Japan Defence Cooperation for the next decade, signed by the two Ministries of Defence in 2018. The visit also aligns with the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the rest of world, while further enhancing mutual trust, understanding, and friendly cooperation between the two navies.
Japan is the second stop of the Vietnamese vessel during its ongoing trip to China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.
