Vietnamese youths in Japan hold congress

The Vietnam Youths and Students Association (VYSA) in Japan convened its congress for the 2025-2026 tenure in Tokyo on January 11.

The event saw the participation of First Secretary and head of the Education Department at the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan Vu Thi Lien Huong, representatives of Vietnamese associations in Japan, local VYSA branches, partner businesses, and over 100 VYSA members.

VYSA President for the 2024-2025 term Nguyen Thi Tram Anh highlighted the association's achievements in 2024 in areas such as educational support, employment assistance, charity activities, and cultural and sports exchanges. Notably, the 17th VYSA Job Fair 2024 successfully connected Japanese companies with young Vietnamese, expanding job opportunities for soon-to-graduate students.

In 2024, the VYSA Gifu branch was established, further enhancing the activities of Vietnamese youth and students in central Japan.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, Huong said that the VYSA has organised many meaningful activities to support the Vietnamese community in Japan, especially students and young people, in their lives, study, and career development.

Following reports from local branches, the congress elected an eight-member Executive Committee for the 2025-2026 term. Newly elected President Ngo Thi Anh Tuyet, a third-year Economics student at Teikyo University pledged to enhance the VYSA's effective activities under this year's theme From Roots, Towards Future.

The association will continue to support Vietnamese youth in Japan while organising cultural exchanges to preserve and promote the beauty of Vietnamese culture internationally, she said.

Since its inception in 2001, the VYSA, with 12 branches across Japan, has conducted a broad spectrum of projects to support young Vietnamese people and students living in Japan.
