Vietnamese Women’s Day celebrated in Abyei

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s Military Engineering Unit Rotation 3 in Abyei held a ceremony on October 19 marking 94 years of the Vietnam Women Union (October 20).

Female representatives from various countries at the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) also attended the function.

In her opening remarks, Lieutenant Vu Thi Hue, head of the Women’s Union Chapter of Engineering Unit Rotation 3, recalled the tradition of the Vietnam Women’s Union and Vietnamese women’s significant contributions to the past struggle for national liberation and the current cause of national construction and development.

Hue affirmed that the female officers and soldiers of Engineering Unit Rotation 3 will continue to unite and support each other to accomplish all assigned tasks, contributing to building a ‘comprehensive and strong exemplary model’.

Major Pham Van Hao, Commander of the Vietnamese forces participating in peacekeeping operations at the UNISFA mission and Leader of Engineering Unit Rotation 3, praised the female officers for upholding the spirit of solidarity, overcoming difficulties, and staying focused on the unit’s political tasks.

He also expressed hope that the women would continue to strive and excel in all assigned responsibilities; actively study to enhance their skills in various fields, and show their creativity in activities, thereby fulfilling their duties in peacekeeping operations at the Abyei mission.

After the ceremony, delegates participated in the Vietnamese cultural and culinary exchange festival, enjoying carefully choreographed and lively cultural performances, along with a variety of Vietnamese dishes and drinks.
