Vietnamese students receive global scholarships from RoK’s Wooduk Foundation
VOV.VN - The Wooduk Yoon Duk Byung Foundation, under the hy–Paldo Group on November 5 held the 2025 Wooduk Global Scholarship ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City, attended by representatives from diplomatic missions, universities, and more than 100 international students from Vietnam and Uzbekistan.
Lee Jung Yeol, Diirector of the Wooduk Yoon Duk Byung Foundation, highlighted that the scholarships are based on the humanitarian philosophy of the late founder Yoon Duk Byung. “Nurturing global talent lays the foundation for cooperation and shared prosperity between the Republic of Korea (RoK), Vietnam, and Uzbekistan,” he said.
This year, 45 scholarships valued at 3 million won each (around US$2,100) were awarded to international students studying in the RoK, with Vietnamese and Uzbek students making up the majority. Since the program launched in 2023, nearly 100 students have received support.
Scholarship recipients will continue to receive funding annually until graduation, provided they maintain good academic performance and a strong sense of responsibility, said Lee Jeong Yeol, Director of the Foundation’s social welfare division.
Vietnamese recipients summarized their gratitude and commitment. Nghiem Phuong Dung from Seoul National University of Science and Technology noted that the scholarship not only provides financial support but also strengthens cultural exchange and the Vietnam-RoK friendship.
Second-year student Le Thi Thuy Linh of Chonnam National University expressed her determination to excel academically, engage in social activities, and make positive contributions to the community.
Founded in 2010, the Wooduk Yoon Duk Byung Foundation has supported nearly 1,500 individuals and organizations with a total of more than 4.9 billion won. Operating as a non-profit, the foundation focuses on education and healthcare, while promoting cultural exchange and humanitarian cooperation between countries.
The hy-Paldo Group operates two factories in Vietnam, namely Paldo Vina in northern Phu Tho province and southern Tay Ninh province, and maintains a representative office in Uzbekistan.
The scholarship ceremony concluded with a group photo and a luncheon, reaffirming hy-Paldo’s commitment to supporting global youth and bolstering sustainable cooperation among the three countries.
