Vietnamese students in Russia promote homeland's image

A ceremony was held in Moscow, Russia, on January 7 to mark the 75th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnamese Students and the Vietnam Students’ Association (VSA) (January 9, 1950 - 2025), and review the association's activities in the Eurasian nation.

In his speech at the event, attended by over 100 outstanding students, President of the VSA in Russia Le Huynh Duc highlighted the association’s achievements in 2024, notably its successful organisation of a student congress in March, which brought together 160 delegates representing more than 9,000 Vietnamese students across the country.

The association also advanced volunteer initiatives within the student community, raising over VND100 million (approximately US$3,940) and building a computer lab for Bao Toan Primary School in Vietnam's northern mountainous province of Cao Bang. Additionally, it mobilised over US$2,000 to support Typhoon Yagi victims at home and organised various cultural and sports activities that strengthened bonds among Vietnamese students while showcasing Vietnamese culture and traditions to Russian and international audiences.

On this occasion, standout students were commended for their academic performance, moral conduct, volunteerism, physical fitness, and social integration. Representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Union of Vietnamese Organisations in Russia expressed their hope that the VSA in Russia will grow further, attract more students, enhance international exchanges, and further promote the Vietnamese culture to international friends.
