Vietnamese students in China place hopes in new National Assembly deputies
VOV.VN - Vietnamese students studying in Beijing, China, say they are confident that deputies to the upcoming National Assembly of Vietnam and local People’s Councils will demonstrate strong integrity, professional competence and responsiveness to the evolving needs of society.
As the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and local People’s Councils for the 2026–2031 term approaches, Vietnamese students in Beijing are closely following the important political event with confidence and high expectations for the country’s future leadership.
Overseas students follow key political events at home
At a March meeting of the Party cell representing Vietnamese students in Beijing, the upcoming election, often referred to as a national day of civic participation, was highlighted as a key agenda item.
Recognising the significance of the election as Vietnam enters a new stage of development and implements the resolutions of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Party cell secretary Hoang Dinh Thiet asked the leadership committee and student organisations not only to inform Party members but also to widely communicate information about the election to Vietnamese students studying across Beijing.
As a member of the Party cell committee and a doctoral candidate at Beijing Language and Culture University, Ngo Thi Huyen Trang said that she and many other Vietnamese students abroad continue to closely follow major political developments in Vietnam.
For Trang, the election is an opportunity for citizens to exercise their rights and fulfill their civic responsibilities while expressing confidence in the country’s development trajectory. She noted that holding the election earlier than previously expected carries important significance for Vietnam’s development.
“We hope that deputies to the new National Assembly will continue to demonstrate responsibility, stay close to the people and listen to their voices, reflecting the aspirations of voters both at home and abroad,” she said.
Trang also expressed hope that lawmakers would pay greater attention to policies that create more opportunities for overseas students to contribute to national development when they return to Vietnam.
Young researchers look to contribute to national development
Nguyen Ba Muoi, a Party member and master’s student specialising in logistics at Beijing Jiaotong University, said the logistics sector plays a vital role in the economy and is often described as the “lifeblood” of economic activity. He said he believes Vietnam has strong potential to become a major logistics hub in the region and globally.
“I hope the upcoming election will select deputies with strategic vision who pay greater attention to strengthening Vietnam’s logistics connections with global markets,” he told VOV correspondents in Beijing.
He also expressed hope future policies would help improve customs clearance at border gates and promote green logistics solutions aimed at reducing emissions.
Overseas youth hope to contribute to Vietnam’s future
Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh, a young Vietnamese student born after 2000, said she feels some regret about not being able to directly participate in the election but still closely follows the event.
According to Linh, the National Assembly plays a crucial role in shaping the country’s legal framework, and a strong legislature requires capable and dedicated deputies.
“I expect the election will successfully select representatives who possess both talent and integrity to help guide the country toward continued development,” she said.
Linh also hoped the National Assembly leadership would adopt policies that provide more opportunities for overseas graduates to return home and contribute to Vietnam’s growth.
Vietnamese students in Beijing said they believe newly elected deputies to the National Assembly and local People’s Councils will possess both professional capacity and social awareness.
They expected these representatives to fulfill their commitments through practical actions, helping strengthen public confidence in the country’s institutions and contributing momentum for Vietnam’s development in the years ahead.
