Vietnamese students claim top prizes at APIO 2020
VOV.VN - All six Vietnamese students competing in the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) took home the leading prizes at the event held in Indonesia from August 15 to August 16, according to the Ministry of Education and Training.
The competition saw Bui Hong Duc from the Natural Science High School for Gifted Students under Hanoi National University clinch a gold medal, while four others of Hanoi won silver medals and a student of Hai Phong secured a bronze medal.
All of the Vietnamese students participating in the event are 11th and 12th graders, according to the Ministry of Education and Training .
This year’s event attracted the participation of 241 contestants from 33 countries and territories from across the Asian and Western Pacific regions.
The APIO is held in the style of the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) for delegations within the Asian and Western Pacific regions, with the first competition being organised by the Australian IOI team back in 2007.
With Indonesia playing host to APIO 2020, all participants were competing online in their native countries.
