Vietnamese sailors rescued off South Africa’s Richards Bay

Four Vietnamese sailors on board a Taiwanese fishing vessel that sank near South Africa several days ago have been saved, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre reported on July 11.

According to the centre, on July 9, two ships from Singapore and Marshall Islands rescued all 30 people aboard vessel HSIANG FUH No.6 which sank about 344 nautical miles off South Africa’s Richards Bay.

The two ships then carried these people to Durban port of South Africa.

The centre contacted the Cape Town Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre as well as Vietnam’s Consular Department and Embassy in South Africa to provide support for Vietnamese citizens.
