Vietnamese provinces, Guangxi launch cross-border disease control center
VOV.VN - Chongzuo City in China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, in collaboration with Vietnam's northern border provinces of Lang Son and Cao Bang, has inaugurated the Vietnam-China Cross-Border Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Training and Cooperation Center.
The inauguration took place on August 6 during a cross-border healthcare exchange in Chongzuo, attended by nearly 100 health management, disease control, and medical surveillance officials from both countries.
Delegates discussed joint mechanisms for infectious disease prevention, medical treatment cooperation, and border health security.
The newly established center, along with a dedicated disease surveillance training facility in Guangxi, marks a major milestone in bilateral medical cooperation. The initiative provides a professional framework for regular expertise exchanges, technology sharing, personnel training, and coordinated responses to epidemic risks along the shared border.
Equipped with modern training facilities and interactive teaching tools, the center will support joint training, practical exercises, and operational coordination for border health agencies.
Bao Lijuan, Director of the Chongzuo Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said the exchange focuses on building joint platforms, sharing resources, and integrating technologies. She added that Chongzuo will utilize the new center to strengthen regular medical exchanges with Lang Son and Cao Bang, gradually refining early-warning, joint prevention, and emergency response mechanisms for infectious diseases.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts by Vietnam and China to deepen border cooperation, with public health and disease control prioritized as key areas of mutual interest.
