Vietnamese expatriates from over 20 countries commemorate Hung Kings
VOV.VN - A delegation of nearly 70 Vietnamese expatriates returning from more than 20 countries and territories on April 21 paid homage to Hung Kings, the founders of the Vietnamese nation, in the northern midland province of Phu Tho, marking the death anniversary of the Kings.
The delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang, chairwoman of the National Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs.
The expatriates offered incense in commemoration of Hung Kings and planted a tree at the Hung Kings Temple relic complex.
Their working trip to Phu Tho dubbed the ancestral land of the Vietnamese nation is an annual programme jointly held by the National Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs and Phu Tho province.
It aims to raise overseas Vietnamese’s awareness of self-respect, pride in the nation’s heroic tradition, and gratitude for the merits of ancestors. It also helps to strengthen the great national unity bloc and connect the expatriates with their homeland.
The death anniversary of Hung Kings is observed annually on the 10th day of the third lunar month that falls on April 18 this year.
