Vietnamese crane truck driver arrested for killing three

Police in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap have arrested the driver of a crane truck that was responsible for the death of a mother and her two children on a road May 5.

Nguyen Thai Huynh, 29, were held for investigations into the tragic accident in which the truck-mounted crane fell on the motorbike driven by Can Tuong Van, 31, carrying her son Tran Cao Cong Danh, 5, and her daughter Tran Ngoc Thao Vy, 2, riding pillion.

The trio died on the spot.

The truck, which was building the Hong Ngu 2 Bridge in Hong Ngu Town, allegedly got its cable broke.
According to police, Huynh failed to drive the truck properly, thus making the cable broken.

They said Huynh was trained to drive crane trucks, but he did not have a safety certificate.

Based on the result of investigations, police will decide whether they would take legal actions against Huynh.
