Vietnamese Buddhists in Laos celebrate Lord Buddha’s birth anniversary
VOV.VN - A large number of Vietnamese Buddhist monks, nuns, lay followers, and Vietnamese expatriates in Laos gathered at Phat Tich Pagoda in capital Vientiane on May 12 for the Vesak celebration in Buddhist Calendar 2569.

The ceremony was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos, Mr. Nguyễn Minh Tâm, along with a large number of monks, nuns, lay Buddhists, overseas Vietnamese, and members of the Vietnamese community living and working in Vientiane.
During the ceremony, Venerable Thich Minh Quang, head coordinator of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Laos and abbot of Phat Tich Pagoda, read the Vesak message for Buddhist Calendar 2569 from the Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.
The message emphasises the sacred role of unity and compassion in building peace, happiness, and sustainable development for humanity. It calls on all Buddhists to diligently practice, cultivate compassion, and spread love to all beings, illuminating the world with the light of tolerance and wisdom.
Highlighting the profound significance of Vesak Day, Venerable Thich Minh Quang called on the Vietnamese Buddhist community in Laos to stand united as one family, maintain strong ties to their homeland, and contribute to the prosperity and development of both Vietnam and Laos.

The religious event serves not only to spread the humanistic and compassionate teachings of Buddhism, but also to preserve the cultural traditions of overseas Vietnamese. It aims to foster unity within the Vietnamese community in Laos through meaningful activities and reinforce the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
In a solemn and reverent atmosphere, participants, including monks, nuns, lay followers, and members of the overseas Vietnamese community, took part in traditional Buddhist rituals such as Buddha bathing and incense offerings, alongside praying for peace, happiness, and well-being for their families, the Vietnamese nation, and the Vietnamese community in Laos.
