A lantern releasing ceremony was held at Lang Le Cultural Park in Ho Chi Minh City on May 6 to celebrate the UN Day of Vesak 2025. This marks the fourth time the occasion has been observed in Vietnam, and the first time the southern city has hosted it.

The UN Day of Vesak 2025 opens on May 6 at the Vietnam Buddhist University II in Ho Chi Minh City.
Vesak 2025 opens with the theme of “Solidarity and Tolerance for Human Dignity: Buddhist Insights for World Peace and Sustainable Development” and will last through to May 8.
Vesak 2025 is attended by more than 2,700 delegates, including 1,250 international delegates from 85 countries and territories worldwide.
In the coming days, the Buddhist Academy is set to host activities such as peace prayers, a Buddhist culture exhibition, a tea meditation night, and an international academic exchange between local and international Buddhist scholars.
