Vietnamese booth impresses visitors at Sri Lanka international charity bazaar
VOV.VN - A Vietnamese booth featuring traditional food and handicrafts drew much attention of visitors at a Sri Lanka international charity bazaar held in Colombo on November 23.
This year, Vietnam showcased a wide range of distinctive products, including phở (noodles), nem cuốn (spring rolls), coffee, instant noodles, dried bananas, dried jackfruit, coconut candy, bánh ít (steamed sticky rice cakes), and handicraft products such as bamboo dragonflies, and leather wallets.
In particular, visitors were excited at sampling spring rolls and noodles which are considered Vietnamese culinary ambassadors in Sri Lanka.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror reporter, Vietnamese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Trinh Thi Tam shared that the international charity bazaar was of great significance as it helps to bridge cultures and strengthen people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and foreign friends.
She felt happy to see how Sri Lankan and international friends love Vietnamese cuisine and handicrafts. This shows that Vietnamese brands, especially cuisine, have become popular in Sri Lanka, the Ambassador said.
The annual event attracts many diplomatic missions and international organisations, foreign communities in Colombo, as well as local businesses and residents. This year's event brought together more than 100 booths from many countries worldwide, creating a colourful picture of global culture and cuisine.
According to the Embassy, the proceeds will be used to assist flood victims in Vietnam and support some social activities in Sri Lanka.
