Vietnamese agriculture trainees complete refresher course in Israel

Thirty-nine Vietnamese agriculture trainees on August 29 attended a ceremony marking their graduation from a refresher course of Israel’s Agrostudies international training centre in Kfar Silver village.

Though most of the students came here after the peak of the conflict in Gaza, their learning and daily life were still affected considerably.

Shai Ohayon, director of the Agrostudies establishment in Kfar Silver, said there are about 700 international students at this establishment. The outbreak of the conflict caused a difficult period for not only students or lecturers but also all Israeli people. Coordinators came to students’ living places and farms and also held online sessions to provide safety guidance.

Ohayon said he was surprised by the Vietnamese students’ maturity of thought, adding that the establishment had even planned to suspend the course due to the conflict, but the students gave them strength to continue.

The Vietnamese students always received good evaluation from lecturers and owners of the farms where they apprenticed, he noted, voicing his hope that more trainees from the country will register next year so that Agrostudies can share more experience and knowledge in agricultural development.

Trainee Nguyen Thi Cam Tu from the Vinh University in Vietnam’s Nghe An province said she learned much experience and accessed high technologies of Israel. She said she hopes to apply what she has learned to contribute to the homeland’s agriculture.

The 10-month refresher course also engaged more than 400 students from other countries, including Laos, Cambodia, the Philippines, Zambia, and Tanzania.
