VOV.VN - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam is urgently coordinating with the Ministry of Public Security to verify the identities of the victims who were found dead at a hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, on July 16 evening, said Pham Thu Hang, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Hang on July 17 cited the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand and competent agencies of Thailand saying four of the six victims are Vietnamese citizens.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has requested that the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand continue to coordinate with local authorities, closely follow and clarify the cause of the incident, provide necessary information to support investigations, and coordinate with domestic authorities in notifying the victims’ families and guiding post-mortem procedures as well as deploying necessary civil protection measures, said the spokesperson.

Hang expressed her sincere condolences and hoped that the families of the victims would soon overcome the great loss.

Four Vietnamese nationals and two Vietnamese individuals with US nationality were found dead at Grand Hyatt Erawan hotel in Ratchaprasong shopping district in Pathum Wan district by hotel maids on July 16.

Due to debt disputes, one of the six victims had poisoned the remaining five people, said the Thai police at the press briefing on July 17.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung said that the Embassy is closely coordinating with local authorities and relevant Vietnamese agencies to monitor the incident, clarify information, identify the identities of the victims and deploy necessary citizen protection measures.
