Vietnam strengthens broadcasting cooperation with Laos

A delegation of Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) had a working session with leaders of Lao National Radio in Vientiane on September 26 to strengthen bilateral broadcasting cooperation.

During their visit to Laos from September 25-27, the VOV delegation led by Director General Nguyen Dang Tien was received by Director General of Lao National Radio Sipha Nonglath.

The two sides compared notes on each other’s recent achievements and discussed measures to realize the agreement on broadcasting cooperation in the 2012-2016 period signed between VOV and Lao National Radio.

Director General of Lao National Radio, Sipha Nonglath, expressed his pleasure at the fine development of bilateral ties and hoped that VOV will further support and assist Laos to build more local radio stations and train media workers.

VOV leader Nguyen Dang Tien emphasized the significance of cooperation with Lao National Radio which is based on the special relationship between generations of leaders and people of both countries.

He pledged to help Lao National Radio in personnel training and technical matters.

Since 1990, the two radios have exchanged many delegations of leaders, editors, reporters, technicians and broadcasters, as well as documentaries, tapes and programs to introduce the landscape, people and political, economic and cultural achievements of Vietnam and Laos to listeners in both countries.

In 2011, VOV assisted Laos in building a station in Luong Prabang province to serve listeners in remote areas. It will help Laos implement a number of projects in Oudomxay, Champasac and Savannakhet in the near future.

On September 27, the VOV delegation met and worked with Lao Minister of Culture and Tourism Bosengkham Vongdara on media cooperation.
