Vietnam seeks to boost labour cooperation with RoK
VOV.VN - Vietnam wishes to further enhance labour cooperation with the Republic of Korea, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nguyen Ba Hoan told An Hyo-dae, Vice Mayor for Economic Affairs of Ulsan City, during their recent meeting in Hanoi.

At the April 24 reception, Hoan said Vietnam is entering a new development era, with a high-quality workforce playing a pivotal role. He pointed to a Politburo Resolution, which outlines the need to advance science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, thereby highlighting the increasing demand for skilled labour.
Sending skilled workers to the RoK would be mutually beneficial, he said, adding Vietnamese workers would have the opportunity to enhance their skills in a modern working environment and, upon returning home, contribute significantly to Vietnam’s socio-economic development.
The Deputy Minister also said, Vietnam is placing special emphasis on the recruitment and training of workers, to ensure they are well-prepared in both skills and language proficiency to easily integrate into the RoK’s working environment. In addition to vocational skills, Vietnam is also focusing on teaching Korean, helping workers communicate effectively and integrate smoothly into life in the RoK.
He further noted that the relationship between Vietnam and the RoK is becoming closer, akin to that of a family. Many Vietnamese workers in the RoK have married, settled, and built multicultural Vietnamese-Korean families, playing an essential role in strengthening ties between the two countries.
For his part, An shared his impressions after visiting a craft village in Nha Trang city, praising the skills, eagerness to learn, and hard work of the Vietnamese people.
He revealed, the Korean government has doubled its budget for the Vietnamese labour programme, and Ulsan City has also allocated specific resources to support the guestworkers.
The RoK expects Vietnam to continue facilitating the selection and training process to ensure a smooth and efficient labour migration programme, particularly in Ulsan.
The Vice Mayor also committed to introducing additional policies to support Vietnamese workers’ livelihoods and protect their rights.
Ulsan City will ensure that these workers have the best opportunities to integrate and live comfortably in the Korean community, he said.
The meeting affirmed both sides’ determination to promote labour cooperation, aiming for a sustainable and mutually beneficial relationship between Vietnam and the RoK in the field of skilled human resources.
