Vietnam, Japan boost labour and employment co-operation
VOV.VN - The Department of Overseas Labour under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) and the local authorities of Mie Prefecture of Japan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on sending and accepting workers to the locality from Vietnam.
At the signing ceremony held in Hanoi on January 15, the two sides vowed to work closely together to effectively implement the signed MoU.
Under the document, the Governor of Mie Prefecture and Japanese businesses will facilitate efforts to increase the number of technical apprentices and Vietnamese labourers in the locality.
The two sides will also strive to expand cooperation across various fields, including social security and vocational training, as well as jointly promoting the improvement of Japanese regulations to facilitate Vietnamese nationals to work in Japan.
Mie is one of the 47 prefectures of Japan. It boasts strengths in the electronics manufacturing, agriculture, aquaculture, and seafood processing industries. Due to a general shortage of human resources, the prefecture has advocated enhancing training and reception of Vietnamese apprentices and workers with specific skills, as well as engineers for internships and employment in Japan.
As of December, 2023, the total number of Vietnamese workers in Mie stood at 7,956, accounting for 50% of the total number of foreign labourers working there.
