Thang stressed that the elevation of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Australia in March last year has laid a solid foundation for advancing and deepening bilateral cooperation; and served as a crucial basis for both countries to enhance their roles and contribute to stability and development in the Asia-Pacific region and the world.

He noted that Vietnam is undergoing a fundamental shift in its mindset, vision, and national development strategy and orientation, including improving its legal and institutional frameworks; re-organising the political system and administrative units to reduce intermediary units and improve administrative efficiency in adaptation to epochal changes. Vietnam has paid attention to fine-tuning the quality of human resources; positioning science, technology, and innovation as key drivers of national development; accelerating green transition, energy transition, and digital transformation; promoting the development of private sector; and advancing human rights, he said.

He spotlighted the significance of cooperation between the HCMA with Australian partners, particularly through initiatives such as the Vietnam–Australia Centre and the Vietnam–Australia Forum, expressing his desire to further strengthen collaboration, especially in sharing knowledge and development experience, institutional and legal reform, as well as in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductor technology, energy transition, sustainable development, human resource training, local development, private economic development.

For her part, the ambassador showed strong support for Vietnam’s goal of becoming a developed country with high-income by 2045, affirming that Vietnam’s success is also Australia’s success.

Green transition, energy transition, digital transformation, and innovation are top priorities in bilateral cooperation, she noted, stressing Australia’s commitment to supporting and partnering with Vietnam to help achieve its ambitious goals in these areas.

The establishment of the Australia–Vietnam Strategic Technology Centre (AVSTC) is a prime example of high-tech cooperation, particularly in AI.

Bird hoped that the HCMA will send a delegation to attend an annual development dialogue in Australia, allowing the two sides to discuss the future direction of bilateral relations.

The two sides agreed to share experience on international and regional issues, particularly in responding to policies of other countries; and prepare a plan to evaluate the operations of the Vietnam–Australia Centre.

The same day morning, Thang met with Na Ki Hong, General Director of Samsung Vietnam, during which the two sides highly valued the cooperation between the HCMA and Samsung Vietnam, particularly in training high-quality human resources, significantly contributing to fostering relations between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.

The two sides agreed to further foster this cooperation programme, with a deeper focus on exploring the impact of AI on daily life, how AI is transforming the world, as well as management and operations based on digital platforms.

As Vietnam and Singapore work towards enhancing their bilateral strategic partnership, one key area of cooperation is the development of science, technology, and innovation, with a strong focus on high-quality human resources training.
