Deputy PM pushes for innovation, human resources cooperation with Japan

VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung held a series of meetings on May 31 with Japanese government officials, local leaders, and political figures to strengthen bilateral ties, particularly in innovation, technology, and human resource cooperation.

Meeting with Gunma Governor Yamamoto Ichita in Tokyo, Dung, who was in Tokyo for the Nikkei Forum Future of Asia, praised the prefecture’s active efforts in fostering cooperation with Vietnam. Highlighting Vietnam’s upcoming development goals and ongoing reform agenda, he called on Gunma to encourage more local enterprises to invest in Vietnam.

Dung also proposed expanding cooperation in the emerging pillars of science, technology, and innovation. He noted Gunma’s strengths in high-tech and aerospace industries and emphasised the potential for cooperation in training and recruiting high-quality human resources tailored to both sides’ needs.

Yamamoto acknowledged the growing ties between Gunma and Vietnam, sharing that the prefecture has signed memorandums of understanding with two Vietnamese ministries in charge labour-employment, and investment. He revealed that a business delegation from Gunma is also scheduled to visit Vietnam later this year.

The governor praised the contributions of the Vietnamese community in Gunma and expressed a strong desire to welcome more skilled workers from Vietnam, noting ongoing efforts to create a supportive environment for the Vietnamese expatriates there.

Earlier that day, before attending the opening ceremony of the 17th Vietnam Festival at Yoyogi Park, Deputy PM Nguyen Chi Dung met with Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi and Chair of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance Yuko Obuchi.

Hayashi affirmed Japan’s commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation with Vietnam in economics, science and technology, innovation, and people-to-people exchanges.

Meanwhile, Obuchi shared plans to lead a delegation from the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance to Vietnam later this year, aiming to enhance inter-parliamentary ties and further cement the friendship between the two countries.
