Vietnam receives 300,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from Romania
VOV.VN - Romania has decided to increase the number of AstraZeneca vaccines donated to the nation to 300,000 doses, a figure three times higher than originally planned.
During the handover ceremony, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs To Anh Dung expressed his belief that Romania's timely support for the country will serve to make a practical contribution to the nation’s ongoing battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Deputy Minister Tran Van Thuan also affirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of Health will put the latest batch of vaccines to good use in a practical and effective way.
Furthermore, Deputy Minister Dung went on to extend his thanks to Ambassador Cristina Romila for playing an important role in mobilising the Romanian Government to donate COVID-19 vaccines in large quantities to the country's pandemic prevention efforts.
In response, Ambassador Romila affirmed that the Romanian Government's decision to donate vaccines to the nation is based on the traditional ties of friendship between both sides over the past seven decades.
The Romania diplomat added that following a phone call on July 14 between President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, as well as a letter from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Romanian Prime Minister Florin Citu on July 19, the Romanian Government decided to increase its donation. .
