Vietnam ranks second in domain names in Southeast Asia
VOV.VN - The Vietnam Internet Centre (VNNIC) on January 24 announced that the number of registrations of national domain name “.vn” has increased by 185,000 to more than 630,500, ranking second in Southeast Asia.
According to the VNNIC’s Vietnam Internet Resources Report 2024, the impressive figure has elevated Vietnam to the top ten in Asia-Pacific and the top 40 in the world.
Notably, 55% of the domain names have the “.vn” extension, while 29% use “.com.vn,” making these the most popular groups. This indicates that businesses and individuals are increasingly prioritizing Internet resources tied to the national brand. Other extensions, such as “edu.vn,” “gov.vn,” and “id.vn,” also significantly contribute to the total, reflecting diverse needs across education, public administration, and personal use.
The 2024 Internet Report, published by the VNNIC under the management of the Ministry of Information and Communications, demonstrates a clear direction in the development of Internet resources in Vietnam. The global ranking improvement, up six places compared to 2020, not only confirms Vietnam's potential but also provides motivation for businesses and individuals to fully leverage the value of national domain names in their digital transformation strategies.
