Vietnam provides 800 ventilators to Cambodia in COVID-19 fight

VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Government has donated a total of 800 ventilators, two million medical masks, 300,000 N95 masks, along with other medical equipment to Cambodia in response to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the neighbouring country.

The decision was taken on April 22 during the course of an online meeting held between Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Long, Minister of Health and Cambodian Minister of Health Mam Bunheng, as they updated each other on the current situation and shared their experience in combating the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic.

During the event, Minister Long highlighted Cambodia's stellar efforts in tackling the impact of pandemic, adding that their Vietnamese partners remain willing to assist the neighbouring country in deploying a range of preventive measures and sharing experiences in treatment activities, especially when dealing with complex COVID-19 cases.

Minister Long also pointed out that Cambodia's treatment facilities can be linked to the nation, adding that the country is willing to send local health experts to provide support in the event that there is a request to do so.

Furthermore, the Minister also emphasized the urgent need to provide medical supplies to Cambodia in response to the complicated developments caused by the pandemic.

Indeed, the country has decided to provide Cambodia with 800 breathing machines, two million medical masks, 300,000 N95 masks, and other medical equipment to help tackle the spread of the pandemic in the neighbouring nation.

Moreover, Minister Long also expressed his hope that the Cambodian Minister of Health will continue to direct anti-pandemic efforts in provinces which border Vietnam due to the increasing number of illegal immigrants who pass through these routes recently.

He therefore expressed his hope that Cambodia will be able to swiftly overcome the challenges in the battle against the COVID-19 epidemic and protect the health and lives of Cambodian people, including Vietnamese nationals residing in Cambodia.

In response, the Cambodian Minister of Health stated his gratitude for Vietnamese support to Cambodia's ongoing epidemic prevention activities, adding that they will give an official reply regarding receiving Vietnamese assistance through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
