Vietnam offers US$200,000 aid to Laos after dam disaster
VOV.VN - The Prime Minister has signed off on a decision to provide financial support to Laos after the catastrophic collapse of the Xe Pian-Xe Nam Noy hydropower dam in Laos’ Attapeu province.
Regarding the impacts of the Lao dam collapse on Vietnam, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment asserted on July 25 that the incident in Laos won’t greatly influence the Mekong Delta region in Vietnam.
The Ministry also warned that over the next 4-5 days, the amount of water discharged from the collapsed reservoir will affect the flow of Mekong riverhead in Vietnam, thus sending water levels of the Mekong riverhead rising by a maximum of 5-10cm.
