Vietnam, New Zealand build ‘friendship bridge’
VOV.VN - New Zealand officials say they have been pushing since early last year to get a ‘Friendship Bridge’ built in Ho Chi Minh City as one of the measures to deepen trade and cultural ties between the two economies.
“The pedestrian bridge will link HCM City University of Technology and Hong Bang International University,” said New Zealand Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce at the presser.
“The Friendship Bridge, recognizes that education and training is a critical component of strengthening the two nations trade and investment ties.”
Most importantly, he said, it will allow for students to navigate conveniently between the two campuses and stand as testament to our concern for providing Vietnam youth a healthy, safe and supportive learning environment.
“Both sides will push towards realizing the construction of the friendship bridge soon,” said Le Thanh Liem, vice Chair of the Municipal People’s Committee, adding that he would like to see it open later this year.
