Hosted by the Vietnam IT Software and Services Association (VINASA), the event is expected to draw around 350 domestic and foreign delegates, including about 100 from Japan. They will take part in a wide range of activities such as seminars, talks, exchanges, a seminar on ICT cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in Da Nang, business tours in Da Nang and a Hackathon Vietnam programing contest.

During the event, the organizing board will present reports on the current situation of Vietnam-Japan ICT cooperation, an overview of Japan’s ICT and a report on digital country: opportunities and experiences from and for Japan and Vietnam by Alphabeta. The two countries’ ICT businesses will also discuss smart city projects in Hanoi, and participate in talks on improving the quality of ICT cooperation between the two countries and the reality of ICT cooperation in new technology projects.

This is the 12th year such an event has been held in Vietnam. This year for the first time IT training institutions will send their students to compete in the Hackathon Vietnam 2018 programming contest on the theme of Smart cities, which will be held in Hanoi on August 27-28.

Businesses from the two countries have made significant progress in ICT cooperation over recent years. They have implemented many research and development projects in the foundation of new technologies such as Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Many Vietnamese ICT products and applications have been put into use in Japan from restaurants and supermarkets to health care, transport, industry and entertainment.
