Vietnam Helicopter Corporation orders three Airbus H225 helicopters

VOV.VN - The Southern Vietnam Helicopter Company and the Northern Vietnam Helicopter Company, subsidiaries of the Vietnam Helicopter Corporation (VNH), have placed an order for three Airbus H225 helicopters to support the expansion of offshore energy operations and replace aging aircraft in their fleet.

The deal reinforces a more than 40-year partnership between Vietnam Helicopter Corporation and Airbus Helicopters, underscoring VNH’s long-term strategy to modernise and strengthen its heavy-lift capabilities.

The new aircraft will complement VNH’s existing Airbus fleet, which includes Super Puma and H155 helicopters, currently used for offshore transport, specialised missions, search and rescue, and other operations.

Kieu Dang Hung, CEO of Vietnam Helicopter Corporation, said the H225 has consistently demonstrated strong performance in offshore missions, meeting the company’s requirements for safety, reliability, and efficiency. He added that VNH aims to make the H225 its core aircraft type in the future to enhance operational flexibility and modernize its fleet.

As the latest variant in the Super Puma family, the H225 is designed for demanding environments, offering long range, high payload capacity, and advanced avionics systems that improve safety while reducing pilot workload.

Matthieu Louvot, CEO of Airbus Helicopters, said the company is proud to continue its partnership with VNH, noting that the selection of the H225 highlights the aircraft’s proven performance in challenging offshore conditions. He voiced his company’s support for VNH’s development in the years ahead.

Globally, more than 360 H225 and H225M helicopters are in service, with total flight hours exceeding one million. The aircraft is also operated by several countries for military purposes, including Brazil, France, Hungary, Indonesia, Iraq, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Singapore, and Thailand.
