Vietnam goes ahead with second COVID-19 vaccine shot plan
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health (MoH) has requested localities to quickly develop a COVID-19 vaccination plan for the second shot as soon as vaccines are delivered.
In a dispatch dated September 1, the MoH asked localities to urgently review the number of people who have already received the first dose and make a plan for the second dose injection.
Localities were required to immediately contact the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, the Central Pasteur Institute or Military Zones to receive the vaccines allocated by the MoH.
Vietnam has so far received more than 27 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines of AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Sinopharm, and Sputnik V, with most of them delivered to localities and units.
According to the MoH, more than 19.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered nationwide, with approximately 2.5 million people fully vaccinated.
Vietnam aims to vaccinate 70% of the population, or 75 million people, by early 2022 to achieve herd immunity.
