Vietnam-funded military school headquarters inaugurated in Cambodia

The Royal Cambodian Armed Forces inaugurated the officer training school’s headquarters in Kampong Speu province, which was funded by the Vietnamese Ministry of Defence.

Attending the inauguration ceremony held on May 4 were Commander-in-chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces General Pon Saruon, Vietnamese military attaché to Cambodia Colonel Nguyen Anh Dung as well as officers and students from the officer training school.

General Pon Saruon expressed his gratitude towards the Vietnamese army’s years of support for the Cambodian Government and people in national protection and construction.

He underscored that the support will make contributions to building a strong Cambodian army.

The two-storey building, covering an area of 600 square metres, was built at a total cost of US$240,000 from the Vietnamese Ministry of Defence aid funding in 2015.

The facility can serve up to 450 lecturers and students.

According to a protocol signed between Vietnam and Cambodia on military cooperation, the Vietnamese army helped the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces with US$4 million in basic construction activities in 2015.
