“Vietnam Day 2016” held successfully in New Zealand

Vietnam Day 2016, themed “Journey to the Motherland” was held on September 24 in Wellington, New Zealand, to celebrate the 71st anniversary of Vietnam’s Independence Day.

The annual event, held by the Vietnamese Embassy in New Zealand and Vietnamese Students’ Association in Wellington (VSAW), allows the Vietnamese community in Wellington to reunite and introduce Vietnamese traditions to New Zealanders.

Speaking at the event, Nguyen Viet Dung, Vietnam’s Ambassador to New Zealand, said the event strengthens mutual understanding and creates cooperation opportunities for both countries.

He lauded the efforts of VSAW in organising the event and hoped it would contribute to boosting people – to – people exchange between the two nations’ relationship.

Attendees enjoyed performances and traditional Vietnamese foods.
