He made the pledge at his meeting with Phan Thanh Binh, head of the Vietnamese National Assembly’s Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children in Hanoi on June 5.

He affirmed that in spite of differences in the political system, the two countries’ education holds numerous similarities, like more than 90 percent of schools in the Czech Republic being owned by the State.

He appreciated learning performances of Asian students, including those from Vietnam, in his country.

Binh, in turn, introduced the guest to the educational development process in Vietnam. After 20 years integrating into the international community, Vietnam’s education has made basic reforms, meeting requirements of the ongoing globalisation.

He confirmed that the Vietnamese legislature has paid attention to investing in education as the country always considers education as a top national policy.

He took the occasion to thank the Czech Republic for assisting Vietnam in numerous fields, particularly education, in the past and at present. In recent years, the Czech Republic has received many Vietnamese students and postgraduates.

The Vietnamese official expressed his hope that the two countries will cooperate more closely in this field.
