Vietnam-Cuba school for children with disabilities opens in Cuba
First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba’s Central Committee Raul Castro Ruz, and President of the Council of State and Council of Ministers of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel attended the inauguration of a Vietnam-Cuba Friendship School in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba on April 23.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Vice President of the Cuba Council of State and President of the Provincial Assembly of the People's Power in Santiago de Cuba Beatriz Johnson underscored that the construction of the special school for children with disabilities is also a wish of late Cuban leader Fidel Castro.
The school is located in Villa Elvira building in Boniato ward of Santiago city, one of the buildings recognised as national architectural heritage of Cuba.
So far, 120 children have registered to study in the school, 78 of them will be boarding students.
Like general education, special education for children with disabilities is free in Cuba, as are health care, meal and accommodation services.
