Vietnam–China military doctors offer free health care to border residents
VOV.VN - Vietnamese and Chinese military doctors on April 12-13 have jointly provided free medical check-ups, consultations, and medicine to around 1,000 residents, mainly elderly and policy beneficiaries, in the northern border province of Lang Son.

The event is part of the ninth Vietnam–China Border Defence Friendship Exchange that is scheduled to take place on April 16–17 in Lang Son (Vietnam) and Guangxi (China).
Early on April 12 morning, large crowds of residents in Dong Dang town gathered at the town’s multipurpose hall for free medical check-ups, consultations, and medicine.
Reception areas, examination tables, and consultation rooms were well-organized with clear signage and enthusiastic volunteers on hand to guide and assist the public.
Many residents, including those with chronic illnesses and limited access to healthcare, expressed appreciation for the programme.
“We hope more meaningful programmes like this will be held in our local area,” said La Diu Chan from Dong Dang town, Cao Loc district, who has suffered from eye and tooth pain for many years.
Col. Dr. Luu Truong Thanh Hung, deputy director of the Military Traditional Medicine Institute, emphasised the programme’s importance for disadvantaged border communities, saying the institute has provided modern equipment and skilled doctors, working closely with Chinese counterparts.
This marks the first time both sides have simultaneously conducted cross-border medical outreach. Vietnam sent a medical team to China, while Chinese doctors supported the programme in Lang Son.
Beyond health care, the initiative deepens bilateral friendship and strengthens cooperation between the military medical forces of both countries, said Dr. Hung.
