Vietnam and China to hold border defence friendship exchange in mid-April
VOV.VN - The Minister of National Defence of Vietnam Phan Van Giang and his Chinese counterpart Dong Jun will meet at the border and co-chair the ninth Vietnam-China Border Defence Friendship Exchange in mid-April.

The exchange programme will take place in Lang Son province (Vietnam) and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) on April 16-17, according to Colonel Nguyen Duy Minh, deputy director of the Department of Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of National Defence.
Activities to be held in China on April 16 will include a welcoming ceremony for the Vietnamese delegation, a visit to the Youyi Pass Scenic Area, a tour of the Youyi Pass Border Guard Battalion.
Notably, as part of this series of activities, the Ministers of National Defence of both countries will witness a joint patrol in the Gulf of Tonkin via online means.
Vietnam will send the missile frigates 015 Tran Hung Dao and 016 Quang Trung to visit and engage in exchanges with the Chinese Navy, following the bilateral mechanism that has been agreed upon by both sides over the years.
On April 17, activities will continue in Vietnam, including the welcoming ceremony for the Chinese delegation and a friendship tree planting activity.
The two ministers will also visit Dong Dang primary school, the Friendship International Border Gate Border Guard Station, and the Viettel’s Logistics Park. They will hold talks and witness the signing of cooperation documents.
The exchange is one of the significant events within the framework of defence cooperation between the two countries, aimed at strengthening and developing the friendly, cooperative, and trustful relationship between Vietnam and China, especially in the field of national defence.
